About Hwb Yr Orsedd

Built for the Community
The Hwb project began in 2018 when Rossett Community Council invited local residents to share their ideas for transforming the disused toilet block site in Rossett Park. The response was clear - there was overwhelming support for a community meeting place and café.
To bring this vision to life, a not-for-profit company, Hwb Yr Orsedd Ltd (HYOL), was established to manage the project. The organisation is run by a dedicated team of volunteer board members and trustees from the local community.
With Rossett Community Council agreeing to lease the land to HYOL, further community consultation helped shape the plans for The Hwb. Following planning approval, funding was successfully secured in 2023 from Wrexham Council (via the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund) and the Welsh Government’s Community Facilities Programme.
Construction began in early 2024, and on 23 October 2024, The Hwb officially opened its doors.
Our Mission and Goals
Hwb Yr Orsedd opened its doors in October 2024 with one mission: to create a central, accessible space where the community of Rossett and the surrounding areas could come together.
We are a registered charity operating on a not-for-profit basis. Any profits we make are invested back into the hub or the community, and we can only operate with the help of volunteers.
Whether it’s through social gatherings, enterprise opportunities, or community-led activities, our goal is to provide a central hub that fosters inclusion, reduces isolation, and enhances the well-being of everyone in the local area. By offering a space where friendships can flourish, skills can be shared, and meaningful experiences can be created, we aim to strengthen the sense of belonging and unity within Rossett and beyond.
